Wid Chambers


Founder/Former Owner: In July 2005, Wid opened Chambers Gallery in downtown Portland, Oregon. Three years later he joined forces with director Martha Morgan, rechristening the gallery Chambers@916 and moving to the heart of Portland's Pearl District. Educated at Stanford and San Jose State, Wid has been painting for most of his life. He also works in clay, glass, fiberglass, wood, and digital media. Wid shifted his focus back to his studio practice and retired from gallery ownership at the end of March 2013.

Martha Morgan


Director/Curator: Martha has been with Chambers@916 since its reinvention in the summer of 2008. Her formal education began at Northwestern University where she studied art history and film. While living in Belgium, Martha entered the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels and studied sculpture for 3 years. She worked for Galerie Corti L'Art Contemporain in Brussels until she returned to the US to earn her MFA at Bennington College. After her time at Bennington, Martha created Martha Morgan Visual Arts as a contract service for fine arts education, consultation, and commission work. Martha's curation focuses on contemporary art with a particular interest in new media.

Heather Birdsong


Communications Design: Heather joined Chambers@916 in September 2011 after completing her BFA in Intermedia from the Pacific Northwest College of Art, where she studied printmaking, painting and photography. Before moving to Portland to focus on a fine arts education in 2005, she attended the University of Nevada Las Vegas, where she conducted social research through the liberal arts program. She is a recent graduate of the Print Arts Northwest Emerging Printmakers Residency Program.
